Building Bikes

Sometimes it is just better to lead with your heart. I know I’ve been writing a lot about my colleagues here at Lifesize, but the simple truth is that there are so many great things we do as a company. This is the third year we’ve gotten our engineers, product teams, support, sales, marketing… all of us together for a crazy fun event for a fantastic cause.

What do we do?

Well, we build bikes. To go a little further, we time our build teams and the quickest build team wins. How do you know you’re really done… well, usually there are no parts left. And, the team that successfully rides their completed bike across our company Townhall room (that means stopping with brakes, too) wins.

Yes, that’s the Product team reading the instructions:

Why do we do it?

We do it for the Helping Hand Home (Helping Hand Home - Who We Are). Helping Hand provides a safe place for children who have been victims of abuse or neglect. These bikes go to children who are just beginning to have the childhood they deserve. It is cases like this where it is so incredibly obvious that the employees of Lifesize are more than a group of people who work together. We care and build together.

Delivery of the completed product:

We build a product that builds connections. We build bikes to help create and heal connections.

All the bikes are checked out again at the end of the competition and rebuilt, if necessary, by our engineering team

-- we give solid bikes to the kids!
