Check out our Lifesize vs. Web Conferencing Competitive one pager to learn more about how Lifesize provides a far superior integrated experience with audio, web and video conferencing all in one simple-to-use solution.
In Lifesize's recent announcement, it was mentioned that the Lifesize Cloud desktop app now has a Web Conferencing "mode" - what is specifically meant by this mode that wasn't available before?
You can now join audio only (without having to mute video) from the full computer client and send or receive presentations.
Just made an audio only call from the Windows desktop client, but there is no option available to share presentations from this call. The presentation option only shows when a video call is placed. Thoughts?
Emily, it sounds like your client was not updated. Can you confirm that the version is 9.0.182 (visible on the about menu).
Thanks for this. Last update that appeared I installed, but it is not .182. However if I log out, close & re-login, no new updates yet show as available.
Is there a manual update process or is something else going on here?
You can always download the client at Lifesize Cloud .
That's OK for me, but the rest of my team isn't going to rush to uninstall then download and reinstall the client - they have come to expect an "Upgrade Now" to appear on login! Has this not happened with the last update? Others in my team have also not got the update appear for them. I can open this in a separate case/comment section if better!
Emily, when an upgrade is released everyone should be prompted to install the first time they log in. The only exception would be if the user selected ignore when offered the update. If the users did not select ignore then yes I would recommend opening a support case to troubleshoot.
So what would be the reasons that Lifesize see as a benefit of offering audio only within Lifesize Cloud? What are the key reasons that organisations would decide upon not using video but go down the audio route instead? This document at the moment tells us why NOT web conferencing, but therefore contradicts the new announcement of adding Web Conferencing into Cloud. I have some thoughts, but i'd be interested to hear some others thoughts on this too.
