We made a few changes to improve the overall experience for guests and users joining a Lifesize meeting from Internet Explorer 11 or Microsoft Edge.
To streamline this experience, we added a launcher that will automatically detect if you have the Lifesize desktop app installed. If the app is installed, the meeting will automatically open in the desktop app.
If the desktop app is not yet installed, you will be prompted to download and install the desktop app. This download will work even if the user does not have admin rights on their system.
We have received valuable feedback and observed issues using the Lifesize web app on Internet Explorer 11 that are related to limitations of this web browser. To ensure the best possible meeting experience, we have discontinued support for the plug-in supported Internet Explorer 11 web app and the desktop launcher has been implemented in place of the web app for this browser and for Microsoft Edge.
Lifesize will continue to support its full-featured web app on Google Chrome™, which natively supports WebRTC video communications.
