Based on feedback from various tenders, partners and customers, raise this feature request for 4 x 4 and 5 x 5 layout for Lifesize Cloud Multiparty Call.
If it's there as an option, could be useful
I would definitely like more control over layouts (eg. definable by Meeting VMR so I can lock them down to 1x1 or 2x2 even with larger groups), and no reason not to have this too, but...really you rarely want it in practice. It's really hard to find the current speaker.
Well, I have a comment
When in a Lifesize Cloud Multiparty Call, lets sayd one Boss need to talk with 30 or more Sites at the same time; in order to do a well designed meeting, all they mute their phone and start Listening
When some of them needs participate then rise up his hand and the owner or the moderator can then give him the word an every one can hear him, but if only 13 that are more usual speakers are in front, How can you give the word to those whom are no talking?
So it is desirable to gain more control over layouts that are definable By Meeting VMR
What do you think?
What you need rather than to see everyone is a "raise hand" tool, I think. People will be missed once you have more than 10 people in a meeting. There is a separate feature request in the community already for this. I actually think there's a huge market for well-produced and advanced companion tools for virtual meetings, someone could easily write a platform independent tool that would work with Lifesize, Bluejeans, Skype, Hangouts etc etc that offered superior meeting facilitation for large meetings and sell quite well. Right now the most flexible way of managing things without self-development is probably through a Google Spreadsheet or Document that everyone logs into.
Does some one can help me making this approach as a formal request to Lifesize Cloud's team developers ?
This is because one of our loyal customers has this big trouble: He has 40 partners around his central office and, of course, he can make some short meeting with 10 or fifteen in a given moment, but some times, he need speak with all fourty, first problem: when all them are joining in a virtual room, something wrong is happening cause thei can't connect the all 40; more over, those who are connected, can't be viewed by central office, because only 13 windows can be viewed at the time, so if one of them whom are not viewed, has need to talk, how can he ask to be heard?
Thanks in advance
Hi firstname.lastname@example.org ,
This is exactly how feature request are made for development and product management to consider. I am mentioning a product manager to make sure the request is on the radar, rmaloney .
Thanks for the detailed use case.
As far as not being able to connect all 40 participants in the call, that may be a licensing issue. Can you tell me what type of account the customer has or send me an email (email@example.com) with the company name and I'll look up their account.
Of course Michael, thanks
He own Lifesize Cloud Enterprise Subscription for Small Business - 1 year (Up to 100 users)
And those 40 participants are using 40 icon 400, while at the main office's meeting room, the boss is using an icon 600.
His IT people is concerned about this issue because his manager does not like to repeat more than once the same info to several groups
May be we are doing something wrong ?
Much appreciate your comments
That seems strange to me. Would you make sure you talk through this with support, also. Your customer might be one over the limit, but that would not stop you getting 39 people in consistently (the boss might be the 40th allowed by license). Let's have support take a look and let me know on this thread how it works out?
Ok, I 're planning a personal meeting in order to review several points, including this matter for this Thursday afternoon. Of course I 'll give my comments, and I really appreciate your interest
Thank you very much
Some other thoughts on this, Lino:
1. You are entitled to the 40 sites on a call.
2. When someone wants to ask a question, they unmute, ask, and will become the center speaker window. If that isn't happening, that is an issue support will help with. If the moderator mutes everyone, that would have to be lifted, first. Maybe a Q/A session dedicated at the end of the meeting?
3. While this feature request is for 5x5 layout (25 active windows), you seem to be looking for 40. That would not fall under this request. And, those 40 windows would be incredibly small, no?
I'm hoping the "active speaker becomes front and center" will suffice in your situation. That way, the questioner is right there. No need to have them always on the screen. If they unmute and begin talking, they become front and center.
Ok , fine , I likeFor now , my client asked me to move our meeting until Monday at noon , so we'll review these points that you mention, and should be sufficient for the moment, in the meantime the next update of the cloud is released when either considered layout 5 x 5 , if applicableOn the other hand , Michael , in one of the shows I've found that when someone connects , or I connect with someone who in turn , is already connected to other users ,, the latter appears with his "little children " on the screen, we will do that test and it probably resolve the issue , I will talk to you soon. Best regards
With a few participants, nine in fact, we carry out the mentioned tests.Form two groups, each of the two received three calls and including (groups) they were not seeing each other. Then we perform two actions:1. from the ninth icon, we call each head group and this was connected, and the three participants with whom I was talking, now occupying each of the four spaces around the window layout wearer voice (central) ; the same thing when we call the second group head, now the other four windows occupied aroundAs it was not as we expected (the group incorporated with his "little children") then we try the other way around:2. We now disconnected and let each group head call us and the result was exactly the same, We conclude that absolutely cloud handles connections and arrangement of the arrangement ; In addition , if the lower right is shared with any other participant when I call my own view with PiP then this is superimposed participant hiding the lower rightCan anyone agree with me that before now, calling no with an icon Series, but with one of the 220 series to make this same connection did happen the effect I expected: that by joining the group head bring in one window with its own layout?
Am very sorry about this issue, but really, really cares to our valued customer to find a better choice than accept that what they expect that a video-conference is really video-conference and not partially video and the rest only audio-conference because now this is what he is obtaining
