should have a chat option for guest user ,like sharing
Is it possible as a guest to chat when using lifesize in a meeting? We have bought Lifesize cloud videoconferencing with a few hundred accounts. However, one of our requirement is to have big seminars/webinars and invite many people as guests. These guest should be able to send in a question to the webinar. Normally you do that with a chat session. This has not been possible when we tried so far. We tried both the chrome browser and the application/app. From our sales contacts we received confusing answers. They said they should contact Lifesize but I have not received any reply yet. For us this is really a fundamental requirement. Webinars usually requires som sort of short text communication to sent in questions at the end or during the seminar.
Hope for an answer! Fredrik
At this time, guest chat is not possible. Chat is reserved for registered users on the Lifesize Cloud account. I'm going to @ mention rmaloney and jduncan to make sure this need gets in front of the right people.
Thanks Michael for the very quick reply and that this issue is addressed!
Thanks for the great feedback.
As Michael stated, chat is only available for Lifesize Cloud users at the moment. There are several issues we need to address around the behavior of a guest user before we can add that functionality. We need to make sure that we have the proper controls in place so that you can determine where a guest can have access to chat and how to best remove that access when you no longer want the guest to have access.
It is a work in progress so we will update you when we have more information.
Here in Ecuador we are testing with LifeSize cloud client over 6000 employees and have been necessary to have chat even for invited participants, we believe it is a feature that should be embedded for all participants , I hope they can include soon .
Thanks for the feedback and hope the test is going well. Guest chat is a feature we are planning on but we have some work that needs to be done first. We don't have any release timing to share at this point but will update in the future when we do.
do you have any update on this? Any chance to have it considered?

What is the status concerning this topic?! Is chat for guests on the roadmap ?!
This has not fallen off the radar but has has been moved out farther in priority. We could change the stage, but feel that changing the stage to ‘not currently considered’ is not as transparent as ‘planned’. Since we are not ignoring the request, but do need to slot a number of things in front of it.
Unfortunate news, I would put guest chat along with raise hand on the top of the list as some of our users will not use Lifesize Cloud until these features are added. As and administrator, there are other features that I would like to see but as far as what our clients are asking for, guest chat is the first question that I get asked about, next is raise hand. This sounds eerily similar to "It won't be ready until the second half of this year (said in 2017) "wont be ready this year" (also said in 2017) "we are targeting early 2018" (2017 again) to current "its been pushed down the list of priorities" What happened to guest chat being on the top 3 list of priorities for Lifesize? (something that was also said last year) At some point someone has to figure out how to add these basic features that every other product has, its should not take 3+ years to add a guest chat or a raise hand feature.
Yes, also i don't understand why it should be take long time to add a guest chat.
Perhaps this will get LifeSize going; I have a meeting with one of our customers next week to find an alternative for their LifeSizeCloud subscription at their request. A solution that does support guest chat, and more importantly, a provider that does stick to their planning and promises.
Not saying that LifeSize is the only provider that does not have guest chat, but there are providers that do and to me it is just a pity that LifeSize is willing to lose customers (future and established) over this basic feature.
