I'd like to see the addition of announcements when joining or leaving a meeting for those already in the meeting. This should be for both phone and video clients. I'd like to see it optional in the room settings.
Hi Johnathan, The cloud system used to have this but apparently as per the release notes linked below, it been turned off to fix an issue. But that was April 6 2016 (MP-71 noted in Release Notes - Lifesize Cloud )
I've asked the question here The specified item was not found. to see when it will be turned back on.
What is happening with this issue? Right now there is no entry/leave announcement to the persons connected with telephone. We are getting a lot of complaints about this from customers.
We will continue to add functions to improve the experience of a voice caller dialing in from a phone. The first step you will see will be the addition of chime tones that audio participants will hear when someone joins a multiparty call. That will roll into the service with an upcoming multipoint release targeted in the next 60 days.

This is great news but I notice it wasn't in the most recent release that went out over the last few days.
However, this functionality was present but seems to been taken away. This was confirmed by Support (I can provide case no if that will help)
Not sure if that helps.
The fix is in the process of being released and the current target is to have the audio chimes re-enabled by the end of the week. Will have an update on the release notes when complete.
It seems as this functions is not yet implemented, as I have tested it. As stated earlier, this would to be implemented in the end of last week. Do you have any new release dates for this?
The fix was released at the end of last week and chime tones are now working as intended when calls originate and remain on the same node. We are further investigating an issue with chime tones on calls that route through multiple nodes.
I saw the Release notes for the June 13, 2016 Update.
Release Date: June 13, 2016
With this release, audio only participants will hear a chime tone when another participant joins or departs the meeting room.
NOTE: JIRA numbers [in brackets] are for internal tracking purposes only.
Lifesize Cloud Infrastructure
Given its a cloud infrastructure, I don't know what node I am on, what node my meeting rooms are on, or what node the audio participants are on. As such the issue isn't really fixed.
Also after reading the release notes, it now seems the chime is for audio participants only. What about ICON Units and Cloud App users (any platform)? Will they hear a chime when an audio only participant joins a meeting room?
I should mention that this WAS working perfectly before. Not sure if that helps.
Looking forward to any further updates you have on this. As I and as others have said, this is a pretty important feature that's broken. As you can imagine we are eagerly awaiting updates.
Yes, the main goal of this effort was to support chimes for participants on an audio call. You are correct that as a user of the cloud service you should not need to be aware of which node your call is on and until this issue is resolved, it is not considered fixed.
We provided the data point around the node-to-node calls as an added explanation and why it would appear to work sometimes and not others. We are still working on a resolution to this complex issue. Once resolved we will plan a release to the global infrastructure. We will update this thread when we have better visibility into what this timeline looks like.
When you are on an Icon or one of the clients, you are able to see a visual notification that there are audio callers participating in the call or meeting. We have future plans to make it even easier to track all the call participants.
Thanks again for the feedback,
Thank you Michael for your answer!
Can you please update us when you have a fixed date for the roll out?
Is it also possible to have custom Welcome Message...that is company specific instead of generic "Welcome to LifeSize?
It is not at this point in time. It is something we will consider for future development
In addition to the audio chime tones, the next step we are working on to help with this issue is developing a better meeting roster. We working an improved way to see a list of all of your meeting attendees in the Web, Desktop, and Mobile apps. This work effort is just starting development and we will update when we have a better idea on the release target.
Having a chime noise play when a new person joins the conference would be great and beneficial for the group.
