Is it possible to incorporate recording and streaming into Lifesize Cloud service?
In case you didn't see it, and for the benefit of any other people who may stumble on this thread looking for answers, you can check out the new Lifesize Cloud Amplify service: which "is the video conference recording and sharing solution for Lifesize Cloud. It lets you easily record from any device while on a Lifesize Cloud video call and immediately publishes your recording to a personal video library so you can share or playback your videos anytime."
All the best,
We are actually working to support such feature in the future in Lifesize Cloud.
Anyway, today we already support a great solution: you can already deploy on-premises streaming and recording solution (Lifesize UVC Video Center) in a hybrid environment with Lifesize Cloud.
The benefits of adding on-premises streaming and recording application to Lifesize Cloud is that customers have complete security over recordings because they are kept behind the firewall and can be backed up using existing NAS (Network Attached Storage) and backup tools.
Attached a good pdf explaining Lifesize Cloud and Streaming and Recording in a Hybrid environment.
How is the Hybrid environment implemented? The referenced document above is a generic description of the benefits of using LifeSize Cloud with Video Center.
We have Video Center, multiple Icon in-room systems setup to record the Video Center, and laptops running the app all attached to LifeSize Cloud. When we record a meeting using an Icon device where the presenter is on a laptop running the app, the recorded slides don't consistently change with the presenter, and sometimes totally freeze even thought the live view of the presentation was fine.
Two points to clarify above.
- We can publish a tech doc on how to implement on-prem VC with Cloud. This will be helpful especially when Cloud recording is available and you can still maintain on-prem VC too.
- Let us look into the impacts you've noted above with mobile users presenting and the meeting being recorded. Did you open a Support ticket for this issue? If you did, please forward to me.
How about for existing UVC Video Center customers, when will Cloud be able to integrate with that?
Customers can integrate these two environments today. Existing UVC Video Center is tightly integrated with the Lifesize Icon and 220 video systems. Whereas, Lifesize Cloud Amplify also extends recording and sharing to the desktop and mobile devices too.
If a customer deploys both solutions, the desktop and mobile devices will automatically record and publish to Lifesize Cloud Amplify. Their Icon and 220 series will as well unless the administrator points them to Lifesize UVC Video Center via the administrator web interface. This will take priority over the Lifesize Cloud Amplify solution on these devices.
I know the endpoints already are able to integrate with UVC Video Center. Are there plans to integrate the Lifesize Cloud service with UVC Video Center.
I need a little more clarification (or coffee:). Do you mean the desktop and mobile devices being able to record to UVC Center too? This makes sense. Also, allowing the Cloud administrator to point all Cloud devices to Amplify or Video Center depending on their preference.

No worries. I was meaning ANY user and or endpoint that is registered to Lifesize Cloud having the ability to record/stream to UVC Video Center. That last part you mentioned about allowing the Cloud administrator to point all Cloud devices(and clients/users) to one service or the other would be fantastic.
If this is not planned, I'm wondering what are the transition strategies to get all content from Video Center over to Amplify?
Last question is a very good one. I'll take back to team. Current customers on UVC Video Center and Cloud will be very interested.
The easiest way to integrate UVC Video Center and Cloud today is to add Contacts in your Cloud directory, pointing to UVC Video Center (aka "SIP Dial-In").
Then if you want to record a Cloud meeting, just add this recording contact, and the meeting will be recorded to UVC Video Center.
Don't forget to remove the contact from the call to stop the recording.
What would the dial string be from a Cloud Client be to dial in to a UVC video Center for recording? Thanks.
Take a look at slide 44 of this deck.
I think you have a number of choices: LTS - 5 UVC Video Center
When i dial my video center from Cloud Client (Desktop) it fails to connect? Does the cloud UVC Video Center need to be registered to SIP?
I don't think that should be necessary. I chatted with some of the support folks here (wanted to make sure I wasn't leading you astray). They gave me the same info I gave you. I think your inability to connect is being caused by something else. You'll probably want to open a ticket with us here: Submit a Support Ticket.
Our reps will help you get to the bottom of this.
When they do, if you can share the solution back here in the community, that would be fantastic.
