With the new Lifesize Phone HD being announced, are there plans to update the 2nd Gen Phone interface to match the Phone HD screens?
There are no plans to update the original second generation phone.
Kevin is correct. There are significant differences in what we can accomplish in the Phone HD vs the Phone 2nd generation. The Phone HD has a larger display with >4x the pixels of the 2nd generation phone. It also is higher performing in many ways. That enables us to drive a much richer UI on the Phone HD than is possible on the Phone 2nd generation.
Thanks for the prompt response.
Just a suggestion: it would be nice to at least keep the speakerphone interfaces consistent. Will the Phone HD have an option to simulate the 2nd Gen Phone experience?
I appreciate how Lifesize has made the effort to, as best they can, have a consistent experience with the Desktop, Mobile, and Web apps using Lifesize Cloud. Extending that consistency to the end point systems would be appreciated and would make my life as the point of contact for support much easier.
Just my $0.02.
We aren't going to be able to run the new speakerphone interface on the Phone 2nd Generation. The core functions displayed are the same as on the Phone HD, but there is much more we can do with graphics, display size and capability on the new version that won't perform on the Phone 2nd Generation.
Any plans for customers who want the new HD phone, for their existing system to upgrade at a discounted price?
This quarter all production is focused on full system sales and demonstration units. There will be a fee based upgrade program for customers next quarter (calendar Q1) once production ramps. We will provide some amount of discount on the purchase for customers that want to upgrade their existing Icon with the new Phone HD.
