I'm using UVC platform with video center activate ( no hardware appliance) how much disk space do I need to store 1000 hours of videos with 720p30 using H.264 codec ?
It will also depend on the kb/s used on the call, so a 1152kb/s call will consume .5 GB/hour while a 768kb/s call will consume 330MB/hour.
This is from the Video Center datasheet using a TB drive, for a bit more info.
But, it looks like providing 550-600GB would be safe.
Hope this helps,
Thanks for your reply ! that helps a lot
I would remind that disk space in table above refers to the main recording, should you enable on the recording key also additional streams such as low bitrate version and/or mobile streams you need to consider additional disk space accordingly.
Hope this helps.
Great feedback -- I would add that with any recording mechanism, you always want to leave some overhead to ensure you aren't over taxing the storage device as you near 60-70-80% capacity of the storage mechanisms.
For 1,000 hrs. I would spec at least 600Gb - preferably 750GB-1TB as that would be a very safe estimate with plenty of overhead (25-40%) breathing room - to your recording storage device of choice.
