Can you use the Phone HD with Link Adaptors and then Cat6 as you could with the 2nd Gen?
Is your question whether you can use Link Adaptors to connect a Phone HD to an Icon 400/600/800 with a Cat 5 cable (as opposed to connecting it with the Lifelink cable we include with the Icon system)? Yes, you can.
Yes it was thanks. What's the recommended maximum length as we have an issue at around 40 metres where the Phone boots up but gets stuck at the Lifesize logo(works using a shorter lead no problems)?
Hi Pete, in theory up to 45m with CAT5E cable and up to 60m with CAT6 cable.
Any idea if the cable is too long what will happen to the Phone HD as ours did power up but didn't complete booting?
I've seen Phone not completing the boot with damaged LifeLink cable. As it works with a shorter cable I would say that Icon / Phone and Adapter are ok, probably this is due to the length+quality of the ethernet cable.
Have you tried re-terminating both ends of the Cat5e? also consider Cat6 Shielded instead...
The cable route was into the abyss so we suspect there may have been some interference as it was unshielded...now we've routed a shielded Cat5e around 10m and all is well.
